He was born in Svanninge parish. From the autumn of 1943 he was working an an auxiliary police officer in Odense. He was attached to 4. department of the police resistance groups, where he functioned as a railway guard. On 5 May 1945 (the day of the liberation of Denmark) he was killed during the violent fire fights in Odense city center (in the Hans Christian Andersen Garden).
