Obituary of 10 Mar 1983: Esta McCormick Laid To Rest--Esta M. McCormick, the daughter of Frank Bower and Sophia Haines Bower, was born near Blue Hill on Feb 11, 1888. She passed away in Florence, Colorado, on Mar 4, 1983, at the age of 95 years and 23 days. She was married to Walter Stewart in 1906 and they lived in the Alexandria area for many years. Walter died in 1926. Esta married Guy McCormick in 1933 and he died in December of 1974. She was a member of the Canon City, Colorado Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands and one son, Harold. Survivors are sons, Wayne R. Stewart of Salina, KS, Donald L. Stewart of Canon City, CO, Raymond C. Stewart of Eugene, OR, and Irving Stewart of Kuna, ID.; sisters, Hattie Kailey of Hastings, Grace Wenzinger of Hastings, and Millie Bower of Oregon; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were held in Canon City, CO, on Tuesday, March 8, with graveside services on Thursday, March 10, at the Harmony Cemetery at rural Strang, the Rev. Franklin Witter officiating.
