He was a graduate of Southwestern University at Georgetown, TX. After graduation, he was a lumberman at Selma, LA and Beebe, AR. He served during WWI and after the war settled in Monroe where he established his company.
He was a member of the Knights of Pythias, Lions Club, West Monroe Choral Club and the Methodist Church. He was survived by his wife Louise, daughter Camille and son Preston (of Houston, TX). He also left siblings Mrs. T.H. Wallace of Houston, Mrs. W.G. Luedecke, and Mrs. Mose Acklin, both of Austin, P.S. Locwood of Tyler, TX, and J.A. Lockwood of Richmond, TX.
