"When Lugwig G Miller was born in 1830 in New York City, New York, his father, Amos, was 25 and his mother, Emily, was 29. He had two brothers and two sisters. He died on March 31, 1862, in Hardin, Tennessee, at the age of 32, and was buried in Shiloh, Tennessee."

The 72nd Ohio Infantry was organized in Fremont, Ohio October 1861 through February 1862 and mustered in for three years service under the command of Colonel Ralph Pomeroy Buckland.
