Omer Everett Weaver was born January 19, 1897 near New Liberty, Mo. in Oregon County, the son of Dan and Alice Anderson Weaver and departed this life at the St. Francis Hospital in Mountain View, Mo. on July 12, 1985 at the age of 88 years, 6 months and 7 days. He was united in marriage to Lula Elizabeth Reed on August 29, 1915 at New Liberty, Mo., and to this union nine children were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lula; four sisters and one brother; one son, Stillman; and one daughter, Velma. He is survived by two sons, Abe and Harold Weaver, both of West Plains, Mo.; five daughters, Elzada Dunn of Yakima, Washington; Dortha Brawley and Mona Lou Martin, both of Winona, MO.; Wilma Partney of St. Louis, Mo.; and Lena Johnston of Atwater, Calif.; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; four great, great grandchildren; two sisters, Wella Weaver of Winona, Mo.; and Trula Downs of Granite City, Ill.; one brother, Willie Vermillion of Winona, Mo. He lived on a farm two miles south of Winona, where he raised his family, except two years he spent in Colorado in the timber industry. He was a member of the Church of Christ as long as his health permitted him to do so. He visited the sick and elderly in their homes, at the hospitals, and nursing homes. In his younger days, in the community where he lived when a grave needed to be dug he took his pick and shovel and went to the cemetery and worked until it was completed. He read the New Testament through 200 times. When he was a young man, he played baseball and fox hunted. He raised his family in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Funeral services were held Monday, July 15 at 2 p.m. in the Duncan Funeral Chapel at Winona with Neil Phipps officiating. Burial was in Green Mountain Cemetery at Fremont, Mo. under the direction of the Duncan Funeral Home of Winona.
