A. C. "Ace" Bennett, 86, of Ottawa, Illinois passed away Monday, July 30, 2012 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Entombment in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Oakwood Memorial Park with Military Services.

Ace was born November 14, 1925, in Headrick, Oklahoma to Homer and Audrey Bennett. He married Joyce Severson on February 1, 1946 at the Naval Chapel in Alameda, CA. She died on February 6, 2008. Ace served in the US Navy during WWII. He was a Hospital Corpsman in the Pacific.

He retired from the Ottawa Fire Department in June 9, 1979 after 21 years of service as a Firefighter. He was a member of the VFW and the Ottawa Moose Lodge.

He is survived by three sons, Ron of Palatine, Dennis of Mendota, and Dave (Vicki) of Normal; nine grandchildren, Brett, Ryan, Dava, Jon, Doug (Kari), Heather, Ashley and Amy; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Beck and Arlene Rowlett.

He was preceded in death by his wife and one grandson, Travis.
