Norma Dean Jewell, 87, of Greensburg, Ky., died on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at McDowell Skilled Nursing Facility in Greensburg. Daughter of the late James Virgil Asbury and Mary Bell Forbis Asbury, she was born in Green County, Ky., on March 27, 1917. She was a homemaker and former employee of American Needlecraft. She was married to Charlie Gaither "Jack" Jewell, who preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 1998. Survivors include three grandchildren and their spouses, Jack Allen and Donna Jewell and Susan Baskette, all of Greensburg, and Chris and Angela Jewell of Fairview, Ky.; one sister, Katherine Jones of Buffalo, Ky.; and six great-grandchildren, Carletta Jewell and Charles Jewell, both of Greensburg, Jerry D. Pippin of Horse Cave, Ky., Michael Todd Baskette of Vine Grove, Ky., and James Jewell and Christian Jewell, both of Fairview. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Bob Allen Jewell; two brothers, Raymond Asbury and Virgil Asbury; and two sisters, Violet Bastin and Vera Scott. Funeral was Sunday, Feb. 6 at Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg. The Rev. Thomas Downey officiated. Burial was in Bastin-Asbury Cemetery. Pallbearers were Robbie Bagby, Jackie Jones, Kenny Asbury, Jimmy Jones, Bobby Joe Huff and Van Higgason.
