Passed away on July 26, 2012 at the age of 83 in Loma Linda, CA. He was born on October 3, 1928 in Colton, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Mathilda, his twin brother, Phillip, his brother Carl and sisters Josephine Haney and Constance Ost. He was raised in Colton, and was well know for his athletics and held many records in the Citrus Belt league. He graduated from UCR, where he served as student body president. He served in the US Air Force where he was stationed in Japan. He retired 17 years ago from the Optics industry. His knowledge of history was extraordinary. He continued to enjoy sports throughout his life, golfing, tennis, running, walking and working out at the gym. He enjoyed woodworking and restoring cars. He cared for animals deeply and often took in dogs that were strays or injured and nursed them back to health. He was a quiet and intelligent man who was a true patriot and flew the flag 24/7. He loved his only child, his daughter very much and was always there for her. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his daughter, Claudia Swing of Highland. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Redlands Animal Shelter 504 Kansas St., Redlands, CA 92373.
