Mrs. Florence Louise Banvard, 102, a resident of Citizens Nursing Home and formerly of Crestwood illage, Frederick, died Thursday, Jan. 11, at the nursing home.

She was the wife of the late James Goodnow Banvard.
Mrs. Banvard was a graduate of the New York City public schools and from Library school. She worked as a librarian in the public library system of New Yo City.

After Pearl Harbor, Mrs. Banvard became a very active volunteer. She worked in the New York City recruiting office where she interviewed and placed other volunteers throughout the city. Following World War II, she and her family moved to Bellaire, Texas. She volunteered at St. Mark's Episcopal Church and St. Luke's Hospital, Houston, Texas, where she became president and director of the hospital auxiliary.

She enjoyed literature, movies, playing bridge, needlepoint sewing and gardening.

Surviving are one son, Theodore James Fleming and wife Virginia of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; one daughter, Janet Florence Skein and Frederick; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

There will be no hours of visitation at the funeral home. Memorial services will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church, Frederick, at a time and date to be announced later.

In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Citizens Nursing Home Auxiliary, 1900 Rosemont Ave., Frederck, Md. 21702, or to a favorite charity.
