Clarence G. Monroe, 56, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 1985, at 4 p.m. at his home on R.R.3, Osgood.
Monroe was born in Versailles Nov. 30, 1928, the son of Frank and Florence Hankins Monroe. He had worked at the Vines Turkey Farm until his illness forced his retirement. He was a navy veteran of World War II.He is survived by his wife, Betty Thomas Monroe; two daughters, Pam Monroe, Cincinnati and Tammy Monroe, at home; two brothers: Marion Monroe, Versailles and Leroy Monroe, of Georgia; five sisters, Mabel Hardig, Gladys Curry, Ruby Daugherty and Dorothy Henderson, Osgood, and Beatrice Harlow, Butlerville.He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Gerald Monroe.Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Nead and Clark Funeral Home, with Brother David Jolly officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles.Friends may call tonight from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.The family suggests that memorials go to the Cancer Society.
