Frank Battle Geneva Pioneer Called by Death
Frank Battle of 915 E street, Geneva, died at the Fillmore County hospital February 22, 1966. He was 93 years, 3 months and 21 days of age.
Mr. Battle was born on November 1, 1872, at Clinton, Ia., the son of Frank and Susan Battle. At an early age he moved with his parents to the community of Geneva. Here he spent the early years of his life, and was married to Margaret Voigtlander April 10, 1898.
After short periods of residence at Blue Hill and Valentine, Neb., they moved to Geneva and lived here the remainder of their lives. Mrs. Battle preceded her husband in death in November, 1954. Mr. Battle, the first born of his family, was preceded in death by all of his brothers and sisters.
Surviving are two sons, Donald and Russel, both of Geneva.
Mr. Battle was engaged in the carpentering and building business until recent years, when he retired.
Funeral services were held at the Kritner-Farmer Funeral Home in Geneva at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 24, Rev. Delano Spitzer officiating. Mrs. H. A. Rosenau sang "In the Garden" and "Abide with Me." Mrs. Melvin Olson was accompanist, Pallbearers were Harry Dondlinger, George Koehler, Paul O'Brien, Carl E. Schneider, Fred Waltemade and Leo Weis. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
