Carol-10 June was the daughter of Marie-9 Amanda Curtiss (1895-1955) and her husband Charles Smith.

3 SMITH siblings:

Adrian "Ace" (1917-3/15/1955).

Virginia "Ginny" (1919-2015) m. 1) William Wendell Vivian, 2) Malcom Hazel.

Priscilla "Pris" (1922-Living) m. William Crimmins.

Carol grew up on a farm near Alto, Kent, MI. Her father did not farm as he worked at the Alto depot for Pere Marquet R.R. They kept a cow and chickens and a pony.

Carol married James Harold Phillipson from Montana. His parents had come to Lansing, Ingham, MI for work with Oldsmobile. Carol and Jim married October 8, 1944 in Grand Rapids, Kent, MI. Jim was in the Navy, so she joined him at the various Naval bases.

2 PHILLIPSON children, both adopted:

Ann Marie B-11/30/1954, and Tom B-4/17/1956.

Carol graduated from Lowell High School and then attended Davenport College in Grand Rapids. She then worked for the Postal Service at the Alto office. Then she got a job with U.S. General Accounting office in Washington D.C. and lived there for a while with her Aunt Polly Zens. After marriage and the children were grown, she worked at Lansing Community College. Later she volunteered at the Insham Hospital for 20 years. Her husband, Jim, also volunteered there.

They vacationed in all 50 states and Europe, even the Panama Canal zone.

Carol enjoyed her membership in the Unity Church at Ada, Kent, MI.
