John Franklin Abel, 77, of Oxford, formerly of Gore Springs, died Thursday at Veterans Administration Nursing Home in Oxford.
Mr. Abel was a retired farmer. He was a past member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a World War II Navy veteran.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Providence Baptist Church with Bros. Harvey Springer and Elvis Vance officiating. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Abel was preceded in death by a brother, Elijah Green Abel Jr.
He is survived by a brother, H. Bryan Abel of Water Valley; and two sisters, Virginia Abel Schiele of Lambert and Patricia Abel Sultan of Gore Springs.
National Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
