Oscar Almquist, 76, resident of Moline for fifty-five years, years, died at his home, 1624 Nineteenth avenue, at 4:45 yesterday morning after two years' illness.

A retired blacksmith, Mr. Almquist had lived at the Ninteenth avenue residence the last forty-one years. He was born March 8, 1865, in Smoland, Sweden. He came to America and Moline in 1886.

Mr. Almquist was was employed as a blacksmith at John Deere Plow works from 1899 to 1930, when he retired. He was a member of Salem Lutheran church, and of Odd Fellows for forty-six years.

He married Emma Carlson on May 24, 1901, in Moline. She died in 1936.

Surviving are four sons, Clarence at home, Frank and Ed of East Moline and Paul of Moline; one daughter, Helen at home; one sister, Mrs. Emil Beselin of Rock Island, and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3 tomorrow afternoon in Salem Lutheran church. The Rev. W.X. Magnuson will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery.

The body will be taken to the church from Esterdahl mortuary at noon tomorrow.
