On June 25, 1913, Katherine married her widowed brother-in-law, Peter, becoming the stepmother to two young boys and soon adding several children of her own to the family: Anton, Marie, Joseph, Edward, and Martin.
Katherine was widowed in 1923, only a few months after the birth of her last son. She remained in Calumet for the rest of her life and faithfully attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Upon her death in 1956, she was survived by her two stepsons (Peter and John), her daughter, and sons Anton, Edward, and Martin. Son Joseph, a soldier, preceded her in death during World War II.
She was buried in the Gasperich plot in Lake View Cemetery next to her sister, Annie.
