Charles Lee Coole, known as "Corky," was born April 18, 1935, in Phoenix, Ariz. and died at his home in Apple Valley on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008.
Friends and relatives are invited to a memorial service for Charles at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, at Sunset Hills Memorial Park.
Charles is survived by his wife, Herta, of 53 years. They met and married in Germany on January 7, 1955.
Charles joined the U.S. Army at the age of 17 in 1952. He served two tours in the Vietnam War. Charles was awarded the bronze star, army commendation medal and good conduct medal (6th award). Charles retired from the army in 1973 as a sergeant first class-E7 after serving 20 years and six months in the army.
Charles worked at United Sanitation as a service tech from 1973 to 1983. He also was a truck driver for Diamond Back, hauling bulk cement from 1983 to 2000. From the year 2000 to time of death Charles, as his hobby, worked for his son-in-law Mike at Mike's Street Rods in Apple Valley.
Charles is the second oldest of six siblings. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia May, his brother Floyd Coole, his sons Helmut Coole, Charles Coole and Andrew Coole and daughter-in-law Trina Coole.
He is survived by his wife, Herta; daughter Lillie Cinqmars, son Nelson Coole, son Patrick Coole, daughter-in-law Elaine Coole, and son John Coole; sister Marlene Clough and her husband, Robert, sister Ginger Martin and her husband, George, and sister Patricia Frank; 12 grandchildren, Richard Depauw, Venus Rose, Cassey Fisher, Robert Coole, Michael Cinqmars, Mary Coole, James Coole, Charlie Coole, Destiny Coole, Jason Coole, Nicole Coole, Tawyna Coole; great-grandkids Miranda Rose, Taylor Sturtz, Michael Fisher, Allie Fisher, Ryan Rose, Andrea Depauw, Alec DePauw, Aaron, Jacob, Dakota, Alissa, Franky Coole, Menden Coole, Devin Coole, Zack Thomas, Gage Coole, Aorara Hanson, Christopher Marcelo, Gabriela Marcelo; and many nieces and nephews.
Sunset Hills Memorial Park and Mortuary is handling the arrangements..
