Dr. George Mozee died at his home in Geneva, Neb., at 5:10 p.m., Monday, January 15, 1917, aged 71 years, 5 months and 19 days.

George Mozee was born July 27, 1845, in Henry County, Indiana. His parents moved to Harrison County, Kentucky, when he was six or seven months old. When he was nine years old, they moved to Grant County, Kentucky, where he grew to manhood. His early educational training was in the public schools. When he was fourteen years old, he entered the Williamstown high school in Grant County, Kentucky, graduating when eighteen years of age. Immediately after leaving school, he took up the study of medicine with Dr. W. H. Daugherty of Scott County, Kentucky, and subsequently entered the Cincinnati College of Medicine and Surgery, from which he was graduated with the class of 1866.

February 12, 1867, at Covington, Ky., he was married to Mary Josephine Freis. In 1867 Dr. and Mrs. Mozee located at Cavein Rock, Hardin Co., Ill., where the doctor practices sixteen years. In 1883 they removed to Geneva, Neb., and that remained their home until this time with the exception of about three years, 1906 to 1909, when they resided at Fort Collins, Col., and the doctor practiced there.

Eight children were born to Dr. and Mrs. Mozee, Minnie E., deceased, Charles C. of Geneva, Hattie Alora, deceased; Carrie A. of Verona, Neb., Agnes E. of Ohiowa, Neb.; Estella, deceased; Roscoe of Hasting, Neb., and Everett of Council Bluffs. Minnie was the wife of W. L. Spear; Carrie is the wife of R. W. Laing; Agnes is the wife of M. D. Allen. All of the living children were with their father during his last hours. Mrs. Mozee also survives her husband.

Dr. Mozee was a conspicuous figure in the professional and business life of Geneva for many years and until ill health prevented his taking an active part in those activities. He and two brothers, Drs. Ben and Will Mozee, operated in the room recently occupied by the Harris Clothing store one of the early general merchandise stores to be conducted here. They had a drugstore in connection. Dr. Mozee was a member of the city school board about fourteen years and president of the board about ten years. He held several other offices for long terms, such as those of city and county physician. He was a leading member of the Geneva Christian Church. During the last few years ill health has limited his practice and prevented his going much from his home.

The funeral took place from the Christian Church at 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon and was conducted by Rev. J. A. Beattie of Bethany. The Masonic order was in charge. There were many beautiful floral offerings. The interment was in the Geneva Cemetery.
