Mary A. McManus, 102, of Barron died Sept. 9 at Barron Medical Center Extended Care. Funeral services were Monday morning at Foursquare Gospel Church in Barron, with the Rev. Wayne Espeseth officiating and burial at Wayside Cemetery in Barron.
Mrs. McManus was born Jan. 25, 1902 in Waco, Texas, to Benjamin and Leila (Griffen) Chambers. She grew up in Texas and later moved to Winter. She lived in the Cameron-Barron area all the rest of her life.
On March 1, 1939 she married James McManus at Clinton, Iowa, and then was a seamstress and did housekeeping for Barron families and businesses. Mrs. McManus enjoyed quilting and motorcycle riding.
She is survived by three daughters, Hattie Grensing and I. Joy Ewing, both of Barron and Leila Mehus of Waterloo, Iowa; three sons, Charles Dorsey of Virginia, Ned Dorsey of Tipton, Ga., and Jere McManus of Washington; two stepsons, Ben McManus of St. Louis, Mo., and Charles McManus of Oregon; 25 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 10 stepgreat-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and a brother, James of San Antonio, Texas.
Mrs. McManus’ husband, James, four stepsons and a stepdaughter preceded her in death.
