Died - Miss Libbie Babbit, a native of Canada. Never death called a sweeter flower. Although she had only resided in Green Valley about a year and a half, her pleasant, affectionate, sunny disposition had so endeared her to all her acquaintances that, when the sad news was passed from mouth to mouth, a feeling of profound sorrow invaded the entire community. At home and abroad she diffused sunshine and cheerfulness around her. She was a regular attendant at Sabbath school, where she acquired the love and esteem of her teachers and schoolmates. She was also one of the brightest and best loved pupils of the public school, where she always took a leading part in the amusements of the hour. while she was equally faithful to study... she was taken sick about six weeks before her demise....On Thursday morning her malady took an unfavorable turn and a few minutes after she sank quietly to sleep without struggle and apparently without pain. The funeral took place Friday morning. An immense concourse proceeded by six young men as pallbearers mounted on white horses followed her remains from her father's house to the Rockville Stone church, where the beautiful and impressive burial service of the Episcopal church was performed by the Reverend Mr. Easten of Benicia, and the remains were consigned to their narrow home. Loving hands decked the newly raised mound with white garlands of flowers, beautiful emblems of the pure spirit .... much sympathy is felt for her parents by whom she was idolized and to those, who for her loss are grieved.
