L. M. Hamman, 86, president of Hamman-McFarland Lumber Co. until his retirement in 1965, died Friday in Good Samaritan Hospital.

Mr. Hamman, of 7550 N. 16th St., who lived 55 years in the Valley, started with the lumber company in 1924. He was a brother-in-law of former Gov. Ernest McFarland and had served as a deacon of the First Baptist Church for many years.

Survivors include sons, Larry and Floyd; a sister, and eight grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church, 7000 N. Central Ave. Entombment will be in Greenwood Memorial Mausoleum.

Paradise Chapel and Funeral Home handled arrangements.

It is with heartfelt sadness that we report the passing to glory of our dear kinsman, Melton Hamman of Phoenix, Az., who died April 3, 1975. His funeral was held April 8, 1975, at the First Baptist Church in Phoenix, with interment at the Greenwood Mausoleum in Phoenix. Gone is the most staunch supporter the Phillip Hamman Family Assn. has had. If many of you wonder how we can print and mail hundreds of copies of the ECHO without charge (and free to most who have never made a contribution), it is because Melton Hamman was so generous with his gifts! Instead of writing a memorial to Melton, I am herewith printing his own testimony to life which he wrote in 1968. It reads: "We have heard a lot in recent months about heart transplants. In Ezekiel 36:26 it says: "A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you." In First Samuel 10:9 says: "And it was so, that when he had turned his back to go to Samuel, God gave him another heart."...About 8pm on Palm Sunday 1910 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 9th and Phillips Streets, Oklahoma City, GOD gave me a new heart. Not only a new heart but a new highway to travel, and the light of JESUS CHRIST to guide men along the way. Soon as my ALL I ventured on the atoning blood, the Holy Spirit entered, and I was born of GOD. When I left the Church that evening there was the largest and brightest star I had ever seen hanging in the Eastern sky. At least on astronomer at that time call it "the Star of Bethlehem". Praise GOD from whom all blessings flow." signed: Melton Hamman. Indeed, his memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
