Sara Belle Jones

Sara Belle Jones passed away July 29, 2012 at the age of 78.
Sara Holder Morris Jones was born Oct. 25, 1933 in Mesa, one of seven children, to parents Tom and Lilly Holder of Kingman Ariz.
She moved to Payson in 1951.
Her ties to Gila County date back to the 1800s when her grandfather John Holder was postmaster of the first post office in Gisela, and later in 1906 was postmaster of another post office in the Beaver Valley area.
John Holder is also in the history books as opening more post offices in Arizona than anyone.
Mrs. Jones was a loved mother and grandmother; she also had a grand love for her animals, though she loved horses the most.
She was a lifelong member of the Daughters of the Gila County Pioneers and was nominated as the Daughters of Gila County Pioneers Woman of the Year 2006.
Mrs. Jones is survived by husband, Stuart Jones; brother, Jimmy Holder (Jewell) of Spur, Texas; sister, Tinnie Lee Chilcoat (Percy) of Kingman; sister, Ada Charlotte Rogers of Tucson; daughter, Tommie Woolwine (Ron) of Payson; son, Buddy Morris (Robin) of Payson; daughter, Jackie Drysdale (Tom) of Scottsdale; son, Jimmy Morris (René) of Payson; stepdaughter, Dana Potts (Robert) of Coos Bay, Ore.; and stepson, Ben Jones of Sweet Home, Ore. She was blessed with 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom Watson and Lilly Belle Holder; sisters, Annie Flint and Biddie Holder; brother, Tom Holder; and grandson, Lance Corporal U.S.M.C. Steven Stacy.
A celebration of life for Sara Belle Jones will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 3 at Messinger Payson Funeral Home, 901 S. Westerly Road.
