ATHENS — Shirley Joyce Crotty, 69, of 539 Bragg Rd., Athens, formerly of 1325 Princeton Ave., Princeton, died Friday, April 7, 2006 at Princeton Community Hospital.

Born Dec. 30, 1936 in Princeton, she was the daughter of the late Oakey and Marie Dangerfield Winfrey. She retired from Acme Grocery and Allens Grocery where she worked in the produce and meat departments. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Princeton. She was a former member of the Princeton Moose Lodge No. 1521 Women of the Moose. She was a friend and caregiver to many in her neighborhood.

She was preceded in death by her husband William J. "Jack" Crotty; one son, Timothy Wayne Crotty; one brother, Duane Winfrey; and one sister, Madeline Hall.

Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Noble and her husband Johnny of Athens with whom she made her home, and Tammy Lee Crotty Browning of Princeton; one son, William J. "Jack" Crotty Jr. and his wife Aleta Jo; eight grandchildren, Danny Joe Noble, Rusty Noble, Eddie Crotty, Brandi Browning, Brandon Browning, Brianna Browning, Brent Crotty and Kristin Crotty; three great grandchildren, Hannah Noble, Jacob Noble and Shiloh Parrish.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Steve Lilly officiating. Burial will follow in the Honaker-Winfrey Family Cemetery on the Clover Dew Road in Princeton. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 until 7 p.m. today.
