Funeral services for Sarah Jane McClendon will be held at First Assembly of God, West Monroe, LA, at 2 PM, Monday, August 26, 2013. Officiating will be Pastor Shane Warren, Reverend Eugene Brown and Reverend Tim Todd.

A graveside service will follow at Acree Cemetery in Point, LA, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe.

Sarah was born September 15, 1940, in Downsville, LA, and passed away August 24, 2013. Sarah was a retired teacher's aide in the Monroe City School System(recieved many awards) and was a member of First Assembly of God in West Monroe.

Sarah was preceded in death by her daughter Dewanna Gaye (DeeDee) McClendon(25260160); her parents, Victor and Cora Albritton; a brother, Elgin Albritton; and a brother-in-law Chester Thornhill.

She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, George K. McClendon; two daughters, Becky Suttle and husband Keith, and Donna Minter and husband Darryl; four grand children, Brandon and Kristian Suttle, Chase Minter and wife Rebecca, and Daralyn Minter; one great grandson, Rylan Chase Minter; sister-in-law Janet Burnett; five brothers, Melvin Albritton and wife Peggy, Nathan Albritton and wife Shirley, Lynn Albritton and wife Sharon, Jarvin Albritton, and Kalan Albritton and wife Rhonda; six sisters, Marlene Thornhill, Sally Brown and husband Gene, Bettie VanWinkle and husband Henry, Linda Wolf and husband Jeff, Dora Martin, and Debbie Albritton; thirty-four nieces and nephews, twenty-five great nieces and nephews, one great-great nephew and one great-great niece.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Albritton, Kalan Albritton, Kevin Albritton, Mel Albritton, Heath Albritton and Lucky Cash. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jason Albritton, Vic Albritton, Bryan Albritton, Casey Albritton, Jamie Martin, Felton Thornhill and Gene Thornhill.

The visitation to celebrate her life will be on Sunday, August 25, 2013 from 5pm – 7pm at First Assembly of God in West Monroe, LA.

She is remembered for that contagious laugh she had.

One of her favorite Bible verses was Joshua 24:15 "...Choose you this day whom you will serve,...but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
