Carlisle Evening Herald, Carlisle, PA, Monday, June 29, 1914:

Mrs. Sarah Landis, wife of Jacob B. Landis, died at her home at 116 West South street, about midnight Sunday. She was 68 years old. Death was due to a complication of diseases.

Mrs. Landis was very highly respected by the people of the community in which she lived. She was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran church at Centerville, but upon her removal to town she united in worship with the congregation of the St. Paul's church in that place. A devout Christian, a loving mother, beloved by all with whom she came in contact, the community loses one of its best citizens.

A number of children survive: Mrs. Frank Sherley [sic], of Shippensburg; Mrs. John Boyd of Carlisle; Harry S., Reuben E., and Harvey H., of Newville, and Albert A., Emma E., and Sarah E., at home. One brother, Samuel Bowers of Shippensburg, and two sisters, Mrs. John Henry of Newville and Miss Mary Bowers of Mechanicsburg, also survive. T

he funeral will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. Services will be held at the home at 116 West South street and interment will be in the Newville cemetery. Friends and relatives are requested to attend without further notice.
