Enlisted on 8 Sep 1862; mustered out on 16 Mar 1864.

Entered the army with his cousin, John Wesley Alcorn, who died while a POW at Andersonville Prison in GA.

He was a prosperous farmer and his farm was in the Breedtown area. "Fletch" sold his farm but became sick and died before moving to Iowa where his brother, Winans, had gone to scout out land for homesteading.

Over 1,000 people attended his funeral in Fairview Methodist Church. The GAR conducted the services.
