Charles "Chuck" Abramovitz

ABRAMOVITZ, Charles "Chuck" age 85, of Dayton, passed away Friday, May 1, 2009 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Chuck came to Dayton to serve as the head of the Sanitary Department for the City of Dayton. He went on to pursue his career with Woolpert Consultants in the 1950's when he was brought on board for the development of Huber Heights and retired in 1999 as Woolpert's Managing Partner. He also served as a consultant for the Dayton Public Schools and the Schuster Center. Chuck was the Past President of Beth Abraham Synagogue, the Jewish Federation, Dayton Engineers Club, United Way of the Greater Dayton Area, Emeritus Board member of the Dayton Foundation, member of the Port Authority, and the National Accredidation Association for Civil Engineering Schools. He served on the boards for the Human Race Theater Company, Wright State College of Liberal Arts, County Corp, Citywide Development, Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra Association and Children's Medical Center. He served as the Chairman of construction of the Education Center at Carillon Park. Chuck was a long time Boy Scout leader. Chuck is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen; daughters, Debra Stouffer & husband Edwin Kautto of L'Anse, MI, Beth Zuriel & husband Yitzchak of Israel, Sara Abramovitz & husband Larry Sternberg of Sudbury, MA; grandchildren, Benjy & Efrat, Shira & Avidan, Rina & Nadav, Ephraim, Amitai, Ryan, Ariel, Josh, & Yoni; great-grandchildren, Evyatar, Shilo & Chagai; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Irene Tabatsky. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Monday, May 4, 2009 (Today) at the Beth Abraham Synagogue, 305 Sugar Camp Circle with Rabbi Bernard Barsky and Cantor Andrea Raizen officiating. Interment Beth Abraham Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Beth Abraham Synagogue or the charity of your choice in Chuck's memory. The family thanks Chuck's caregivers; Roger, Kim, Nicole, Liz & Norma, for the exceptional care they provided. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Marker & Heller Funeral Homes, North Main Street Chapel.
