She never married, and later on lived with her sister......Molly Sheridan in Maryland.

Thursday 21 January 1937:
"Miss Kate Downey, of Bedford, Pa., died at 7:50 p.m. yesterday in Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md., where she was admitted January 5.
Miss Downey was the daughter of Owen D. Downey and Elizabeth (Powell) Downey, and a former resident of Piedmont. Her father erected the Downey Hotel, which was located on the present site of the Herald office. The hotel was destroyed by fire in 1890 or 1891.
Two nieces, Mrs. Benjamin Biays of Mt. Savage. And Miss Aimee Sheridan of Bedford, survive.
Funeral services will be conducted today in Stein's chapel, Cumberland, with Father Eagan of St. Patrick's Church, Mt. Savage, officiating.
The body will be removed to the Rose Hill crypt, and later will be brought to Westernport for burial in the family plot."
