Died at 7:45 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 1979, at Lane Memorial Hospital, Zachary. She was 75, a native of Downsville and a resident of Zachary. Body at Charlet Funeral Home, Zachary, with visiting from 9 a.m. to noon Friday. Visiting at Zachary Methodist Church, Zachary, from 12:30 p.m. until funeral time Friday. Religious services at 3 p.m. Friday, conducted by the Rev. Roy Garrett and the Rev. Guy Messer. Burial in Azalea Rest Cemetery.

Survived by her husband, Bill L. Messer, Zachary; three daughters, Mrs. J. Paul (Martha) Boagni, Opelousas, Mrs. Elizabeth Nichols, Eugene, Ore., and Mrs. J.G. (Marilyn) McKowen, Zachary; three sons, Burnett Messer, Baton Rouge, Johnny Messer and James V. Messer, both of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Elzy Roberson and Mrs. Carrie Roye, both of Downsville; three brothers, Fred J. Spurlock and S.V. Spurlock, both of Houston, and Guy Spurlock, Golden Meadow; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Lane Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and Order of Eastern Star, Zachary, and past worthy OES matron.
