Journal-Advocate (Sterling, CO) - August 3, 2012
Deceased Name: Anne Schell
Anne Schell passed away at her home in Brighton on July 30, 2012, at the age of 89. Graveside and interment services were held at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Thursday, Aug. 2.

Anne Eva Kippes was born in Sterling on Aug. 14, 1922. She was the fifth of seven children in the family of John Peter and Mary Kippes. The family lived at various farms in the Sterling area. At the age of 8, Anne joined the family in working in the sugar beet fields.

Anne married Joseph Schell on April 3, 1945, and lived in Atwood, where Joe worked at the Sterling grain elevator. Three children came along in the first five years of their marriage. The family lived for a few years in Bennett, and briefly in other locations, then in 1955 the family moved to Elsie, Neb., where her husband managed a grain elevator and Anne gave birth to her fourth child. After 16 years in Nebraska they bought a house in Brighton. After her husband retired, Anne went to work for a few years at Kitiyama Nurseries, where she supervised nursery workers.

Anne's family was very important to her; she loved family gatherings. Though her formal education ended with the sixth grade, she still read to her children every evening before bed. And when her children were grown, she loved helping take care of her three granddaughters.

She leaves her four children, Carol Schell of Trenton, Neb., Joe Schell of Akron, Mary Davidson of Frederick and Gregory Schell of Brighton; three grandchildren, JoAnne Rose of Texas, Kristal Wildman of Florida and Nikki Davidson of California; and one sister, Rose Gerk of Brighton.

Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Schell; four brothers, John, Alex, Andrew and Clarence Kippes; and her sister, Mary Konrade.
