Samuel Benton, 74, passed away on August 3, 2012 at his home in Suffolk Towers in downtown Suffolk. Samuel was the son of the late Alfred and Elsie Benton and was a member of Suffolk Christian Church.

He is survived by his sister, Ann Eason and husband Bill of Suffolk; his brother Thomas Benton and wife Pearl of Goldsboro NC; nine nieces and eight nephews and 11 great nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was conducted Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at 11 am in Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery in Suffolk by the Rev. Michael D. Halley, pastor of Suffolk Christian Church, and the Rev. Charles W. Thompson, pastor, retired, of First Baptist Church, Suffolk.

The family received friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall at the Suffolk Christian Church.

Memorial donations were requested to be made to Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters, 601 Childrens Lane Norfolk, VA 23507.
