Mr. Rex Carey Bishop, Sr., age 87 of Aucilla, FL passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2012 in Conyers, GA. Born August 18, 1924 in Aucilla, FL Rex was a WWII veteran, serving in the US Army's 60th Infantry Division in Germany, France and Belgium. Rex was a Staff Sargent, awarded a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. Rex retired from Dade County School System where he taught Vocational Agriculture. After retirement he worked for Melrose Nursery and Monticello Nursery. He is survived by his wife, Belle Gene "Betty" Bishop; brothers, Marion Bishop and Marvin Bishop; sons, Raymond and wife, Susan Bishop, Rex, Jr. and wife, Carol Bishop; three grandchildren, Crystal and husband, Kennon Carter, Jason and wife, Kim Bishop, and Ray Bishop; five great-grandchildren, Michaela Carter, Colin Bishop, Natalie Carter, Mallory Carter, and Riley Bishop. He was preceded in death by older brothers, W.E. "Emerson" Bishop and Isham Leon "Pete" Bishop. Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Bishop Family Cemetery in Aucilla, FL.
