Betty B. Spring, age 85, of Ottawa passed away Friday, June 18, 2010 at Olathe Medical Center. She was born January 6, 1925, in KC, KS, the daughter of Elizabeth (Daniel) and Ambrose M. McDermott. Betty attended Central Grade School, Wyandotte High School and Aladdin Beauty College where she specialized in pedicures and manicures. She owned her own shop in Wellsville for 10 years in the Doctors’ Building. Prior to beauty school she was an elevator operator, worked at Faultless Starch during WWII and at the Lennox Co. in New Jersey. For the last ten years Betty worked for Dr. Ray Jones in Baldwin City, KS.

Betty married in June of 1949 and divorced in 1953. Her husband was in the U.S. Army, they had no children. Betty’s hobbies included reading visiting the elderly and running errands for them, meeting many types of different people and in her younger years she liked to roller skate at El Torrean in KC almost nightly. Betty accepted Christ as her personal Savior in July of 1945.

Survivors include her sister, Evelyn Klepac of Ottawa and numerous great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, sister, Jean Walters in May of 2009 and two nephews, George Klepac and Richard Klepac.

Graveside services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Stony Point Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Coal Creek Gospel Hall or City Union Mission, KC, MO and sent in care of Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 14, Ottawa, KS 66067.
