Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. today at Crestwood Cemetery for Jimmy Dale Black, Hokes Bluff. He was born Oct. 24, 1949, and went to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 2, 2010. The Rev. Sam Jones will officiate. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct services.
Jimmy was the son of the late E.S. and Rubye Black. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Nita Spinks.
He was a graduate of Hokes Bluff High School, where he played football, basketball and baseball. He also attended Jacksonville State University. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Hokes Bluff. He worked for many years at Allis Chalmers and AAA Pottery, and was presently employed with Highland Elementary School. He was dedicated to his family and had been the loving caregiver for his mother for 12 years. Jimmy was caring, loving and giving, and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his brothers, Larry Black (Sandy), Jackson, Miss., Seaborn Black (Charlotte), Anniston, and Steve Black, Panama City, Fla.; and nieces and nephews, Greg Black, Allan Black, Faith Black, Felecia Perry, Melanie Spinks, Jennifer Kolar, Maria Robin, Robert Spinks Jr., Mark Spinks, Paul Spinks, Danny Spinks, Lisa Koonce, Laura Taylor, Wayne Black, Kelley Sudberry, Cody Black and Chase Black.
Pallbearers will be Greg Black, Allan Black, Mark Spinks, Ronald Moland, Cody Black and Chase Black.
