Sara Maria Allan of Napa passed away peacefully August 2, 2012 at the age of 89. Sara was born in San Francisco on August 9, 1922 and attended St. Bridge's School on Van Ness Avenue. She married William Jesse Allan, also of San Francisco, in 1945.

Sara, a resident of Napa since 1958, worked as the executive secretary to the director of Napa State Hospital for 20 years. She was also an accomplished artist and spent her retirement years painting. She especially loved teaching art to children. Sara remained very active with a wealth of friends, family and participation in a wide range of social groups: the Welcome Club, Red Hat Society, Spanish club and book club.

Sara is survived by her daughter, Jeanine Gerstenfeld of San Carlos; her brother, Alfred Arce of Redwood City; her grandchildren, Derek Lehnecke of Napa and Nicole Beckord of Elizabeth, Colorado; 3 great-grandchildren, Tyler and Koby Lehnecke and Samantha Beckord; and her many loving nieces and nephews who were a great joy and comfort to her in her life.

We will be honoring Sara's life at a memorial service held at the Tulocay Cemetery Chapel, 411 Coombsville Road, Napa, CA August 11 at 11AM. Memories and words of sympathy may be sent to the family on-line at www.tulocaycemetery.org.
