Shown on the 1880 Morehouse Parish census with wife Nora. He was a deacon of the church.

He may be the George A. Dillard living with the widow Nancy on the 1850-1870 censuses of Sumter County, AL. That George married a Lenora Watts March 25, 1867 there.

He served as a private in Company A., 5th Battalion, Alabama Volunteers. This battalion fought at Mechanicsville, 1st Cold Harbor, and Frazier's Farm, with heavy losses. It was engaged at 2nd Manassas with loss, and with like result at Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville. George had been absent sick for about a year due to a skin disease. George was then transferred on doctor's orders November 19, 1863 to Company C., Steeles (Ky.) Battn. Cavalry.

His passing was briefly noted in the New Orleans Times Picayune of May 2, 1895, Page 8.
