Clifford L. Bessey

Clifford Lee Bessey, only son of Arthur and Mattie Bessey, was born in Corning township, Rooks County, Kansas, March 31, 1904, and passed away at the Russell hospital January 21, 1967, at the age of 62 years, 10 months and 20 days.
He attended rural school in Rooks County and the Natoma High School.
He was united in marriage to Opal Ethel Elliott, of Covert, Kansas, on May 9, 1928, at Phillipsburg, Kansas.
The first five years of their marriage was spent on a farm in Rooks County, then they moved to Natoma where he since resided. His entire life was spent farming and raising cattle. He was also school custodian for 10 years.
He was a kind, loving person always ready to lend a helping hand to a friend or neighbor.
He is survived by his mother, Mattie Crawford, of Natoma, and a sister, Irene Gregory, of Osborne, Kansas, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Those preceding him in death were his wife, Opal, his father, Arthur Bessey, and a sister, Clio Westhusin.
The funeral service was held at the Natoma Methodist Church, Monday, January 23, with Rev. Royce A. Baldwin officiating. Burial was in the Natoma cemetery, Pohlman's Funeral Service, Natoma, in charge of arrangements.
