He was born November 2, 1948, in Davenport, the son of Robert O. (Sr.) and Shirley M. (Kile) Beeks. Bob was a graduate of Bettendorf High School and later from Mount Mercy College, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Vietnam War. On December 26, 1974, he married Barbara Brubaker in Rock Island.
Bob authored two books and was co-author of two screenplays. His lifetime career was as a quality engineer. He retired from McLaughlin Body Co. in Moline in 2002.
He attended St. John's United Methodist Church and was especially fond of Jesus Country Church. He loved to fish and he hunted with his family in younger years.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara, and son, Jonathan Beeks, both of Bettendorf; adopted daughters, Veronica Bayse and Amber Gylling of Grand Junction, Colo., and their families; brother, Charles Beeks of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Rebecca Cady of Coal Valley, Ill.; his mother, Shirley M. Beeks of Bettendorf; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Merlin and Vivian Brubaker of Bettendorf.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Dale Beeks, and his father, Robert O. Beeks, Sr.
