Dorothy was born on Sept. 3, 1924 in Manitowoc, the daughter of the late Frank Mrotek and Selma Mahnke Mrotek. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, class of 1942. Dorothy married the late James Gogats on March 15, 1945 at First German Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. James passed away on Jan. 25, 1981.
Dorothy, along with her hsuband, James, were active in establishing the Manitowoc Maritime Museum and the Submarine Memorial Association in Manitowoc. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, an active member and past president of the Women's Sub-Vets, volunteer at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center and the Maritime Museum and a member of Faith Evangelical Free Church, Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, April 30, 2005 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Faith Evangelical Free Church, Manitowoc.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at the Faith Evangelical Free Church on Saturday, April 30, 2005. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Patrick Hanson, pastor, with burial to follow at the Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the Gogats family with funeral arrangements.

Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-laws: Eileen Gogats of Racine; Patricia and Eugene Specht of Manitowoc; and Mary and Dennis Peil of Baileys Harbor; eight grandchildren: Lenore, Michele, LeaAnn, Melanie, Steven, Jill, Eric and Sarah; 11 great-grandchildren; several other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by one son-in-law: Alan Schroeder.
