Edna R. Helwich, age 91, of Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, formerly of Harmony
West and 506 Riverview Drive, Manitowoc, passed away late Tuesday evening, Feb. 7,
2006, at the care center.
Private funeral services for the family were held at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral
Home with the Rev. Brian Staude officiating. Cremation will have taken place and
burial of the cremains will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Edna was born Sept. 26, 1914, in Manitowoc. She was the daughter of the late Oscar
and Emma Bjorgsen Benson. She had been a longtime employee of the Henry Schuette
family and also was employed at the Aluminum Specialty for 29 years until the time
of her retirement. She was married to Bert Helwich, who preceded her in death in
1964. Edna had been a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Manitowoc.
She is survived by her two sisters: Thelma (Lloyd) Alvord, Manitowoc; and Mary Jane
O'Hearn, Green Bay; nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends. Edna
was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and one brother.
The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 628 N. Water St., Manitowoc,
is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
