Alice R. Knutson, age 78, a resident of 407 E. Reed Ave., Manitowoc, died
Wednesday, June 10, 1998, at Rivers Bend Medical and Rehabilitation Center,
Manitowoc.
A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Monday, June 15, 1998, at St.
Paul's Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Officiating will be Rev. Robert Simensen.
It was her request to be cremated and to have her cremains buried in Evergeen
Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Alice was born December 27, 1919, in Manitowoc, Wis. Her parents were the late
Walter and Beatrice Hermann Wigen. She graduated from Lincoln High School in
1938, and from the Norwegian American Hospital, Chicago, Ill. She served with
the United States Air Force Nurse Corps from February, 1943 to September, 1945.
In 1974, she married George Knutson in Madison. Mr. Knutson preceded her in
death in July, 1979. For many years she was employed as an occupational nurse
by the Foley Company from where she retired in 1987. She was a member of St.
Paul's Lutheran Church, Manitowoc.
Survivors include three children, Mary (Ken) Bruechert, Bradley (Jeanne) Field,
all of Manitowoc, Randolph (Patricia) Field, West Bend; a step-son Jim (Ruth)
Knutson, Cottage Grove; a sister, Maxine (Ken) Barry, Branford, Conn.; three
grandchildren, Jodi, Victor and Matthew; a great granddaughter, Hope; a sister-
in-law, Rose Marie Wigen, Manitowoc; also other relatives and friends. She was
preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Eunice Knutsen; and
a brother, Walter Wigen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to St. Paul's Lutheran
Church, or to Salvation Army Child Care Centery.
The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Cremation Service assisted the family
with arrangements.
