Evelyn Gladys Welte was born to Albert and Mattie Belle (Sprague) Welte in Plains, MT. In 1910, the family moved to a farm 7 miles north of Hingham, MT, where they lived until 1927 when they made their home in Hingham. Evelyn graduated from Hingham High School in 1925 and became a teacher. In April 1930, Havre, MT, Evelyn married George J. Polfus, a Hingham farmer and later a Havre restaurant owner. Evelyn later was a hairdresser.
Evelyn died in a Lewistown hospital following a short illness.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Norman Welte, who died Aug 1971 in Hamilton, MT. She is survived by a sister, Isabel (Lawrence) Foix, Boise, ID, and four nieces.
