EX TREASURER BRUNO MUELLER PASSES AWAY
Pioneer of County Was Also Former Register of Deeds
Bruno Mueller, ex-city and county official and practically life long resident
of Manitowoc County died at noon Sunday at the home of his brother, William
Mueller, at Mishicot, his demise being due to infirmities incident to old age.
The funeral will be held either Thursday or Friday afternoon from Mishicot
depending upon word from the two sons who are located at Tacoma and Portland,
Washington. Burial will be at Evergreen. Native of County. Born in the town of
Mishicot, then known as Saxonburg, November 7, 1849, Mr. Mueller was seventy
five years old on his last birthday. He attended the district public school
until he was sixteen and then took up work on the home farm. At the age of
twenty-eight he was married to Minna Vogt, daughter of Anton Vogt of Manitowoc,
the marriage occurring November 17, 1877. The family continued to reside on the
farm until 1885 when Mr. Mueller lost a foot in an accident. He disposed of his
farm holding and moved to Mishicot where he engaged in the furniture and
undertaking business. He had served as the town treasurer from 1880 to 1883.
In 1898 he was elected county register of deeds and the family moved to Manitowoc.
He held the office for three terms and then in 1909 was elected city treasurer,
a position which he held for four years, retiring to private life at the expiration
of that time. Surviving Mr. Mueller are his widow, two sons, Henry A., of Tacoma,
Washington and Edgar of Portland, Oregon and one daughter, Mrs. Amanda Larson,
wife of Edward Larson, formerly of this city and Chicago but recently moved to
Minneapolis, Minn. Seven grandchildren, two brothers, Albert Mueller of Tacoma
and William of Mishicot and a sister, Mrs. Anton Vogt also survive him. He was
a member of the Manitowoc Council No. 232 United Commercial Travelers and also
of the Beavers. Official Record Excellent. Mr. Mueller was a life long Democrat,
one of the old school who believed in party for principle and he was active in
the county organization of the party from his earliest participation in public
affairs. He was a capable official and retired from the several offices he held
with a record for efficiency and administration that he was proud of.

The community at large expresses its condolences to the family of Bruno
