Mrs. Bernard (Marcella) A. Powell, age 83, of 1436 Johnston Drive, Manitowoc,
died Friday morning, Nov. 3, 2006, at the Aurora Medical Center of Manitowoc
County.
Marcella was born March 29, 1923, in Manitowoc, a daughter of the late Martin
and Josephine Norkosky Bonk. She was a 1942 graduate of Lincoln High School,
Manitowoc. On July 28, 1945, Marcella was married to Bernard J. Powell at
Kingsville, Texas Naval Air Station. Bernard and Marcella owned and operated
two restaurants in Manitowoc: Dog and Suds, as well as Powell’s Restaurant.
Marcella was a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Manitowoc, and
enjoyed puzzles, crosswords and bingo.
Survivors include her husband: Bernard, Manitowoc; one son and daughter-in-law: Susan Bewersdorf, Augusta, Kan.; Mary (Dennis) Kelly, Manitowoc; three grandchildren: Jason (Jolene) Wanek, Green Bay; Dawna Eldringhoff, Augusta, Kan.; Eric Bewersdorf, Wichita, Kan.; four great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
Marcella was preceded in death by her mother, father, five brothers, and one
sister.
A memorial funeral service will be held on Monday evening, Nov. 6, 2006, at 7
p.m. at the Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 1122 South Eighth St.,
Manitowoc.
Deacon Alan Boeldt will officiate, with burial of her cremated remains at
Evergreen cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call on Monday at the funeral home from 6 p.m. until
the time of service at 7 p.m.
