MARY STASTNY (d. 1938)
Mrs. Mary Stastny, 92, a resident of the county for nearly 80 years, died
early today at the home of her son, Frank, 1421 south 19th street. She suffered
a stroke two weeks ago.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Wattawa, Urbanek and
Schlei funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Mrs. Stastny, nee Mary Spevacek, was born in Bohemia in 1840 and came to this
country with her parents at the age of 13. The family located at Kossuth near
the village of Francis Creek. In 1865 she was married to John Stastny and they
located in a farm.
Mr. Stastny died 20 years ago.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Anton Cizek, Ettrick, Va.; three sons, Joseph,
Wyoming, Louis, Chicago, Frank, city, 11 grandchildren and12 great-grandchldren.
Mrs. Stastny was a member of the J.C.D. and the C.S.B.S. two Bohemian societies.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home from Tuesday noon until the hour of
the services Wednesday.
