F. STUPECKY, FOUNDER GLUE CO. HERE, DIES
Early Day Industrial Leader of City Was Aged 79
Frank Stupecky, Sr., pioneer resident and one of the early day promoters of
industry in Manitowoc as founder and manager of the Manitowoc Glue Company
which operated a factory plant on property now occupied by part of the ship-
yards, died at his home, 925 North Eleventh street last night, aged 79 years.
Mr. Stupecky’s death was due to advanced age.
Mr. Stupecky was a native of Bohemia and born June 20, 1845. He came to America
with his parents when a boy of ten and located in Manitowoc and when he attained
his majority, engaged in business eventually being manager of the glue factory
for a long term of years, achieving success in his business.
Wedded 50 Years
Mr. Stupecky was married here fifty years ago last December, the golden wedding
celebration planned having been abandoned because of his illness which had
confined him to his bed for several months. Besides his aged widow Mr. Stupecky
is survived by six of nine children born to the couple, Frank, Jr., Mrs. E. L.
Wilda, Ladimer, Julius, Mrs. Adolph Kazda and Mrs. Edwin Chloupek. Three
children, Mrs. Adolf Herman, Los Angeles, Mrs. Bruno Ertz, Milwaukee and Edward,
this city, preceded their father in death. One sister, Mrs. Fred Shimonek of
Yonkers, N.Y., and a brother Wenzel of this city, also survive and there are
also sixteen grandchildren.
Funeral on Monday
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 from the late home on North
Eleventh street, with burial at Evergreen.
