George W. McCreery, 69, 1718 E. Dudley St., died Saturday evening in Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Harrison Township, the son of Nathan and Nettie (Trout) McCreery, he spent most of his life in this community.
Mr. McCreery was employed at Peoples Ice Delivery for 32 years and more recently was employed at Miller's Milk House on Ohio Avenue.
Surviving are his wife, Ellen; four daughters, Mrs. Georgianne Monroe, Mrs. Roberta Nemyer, Mrs. Leatha Taulbee and Mrs. Eve Shafer, all of Muncie; four sons, John R., William A., Farrell G., and Robert E. McCreery, all of Muncie; a sister, Mrs. Effie Willis, Elwood; a brother, William C. McCreery, Elwood; 20 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Another daughter, Mrs. T.R. (Barbara) Jones, died the past July.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Meeks Mortuary with Rev. Paul Sipes, pastor of Southside Church of God, officiating. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory. Friends may call at the mortuary from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday and prior to services Tuesday.
