William married at least twice during his lifetime. He had seven children with his wife Sarah Jane Byars whom he married Dec. 4, 1877 in Pickens, SC. They were Hervey Dero, William Evona, Granville Wesley, Edna Victoria, Walker Oliva, Matthias Briggs, and Marian Blanche. He married Sophronia Irene (Roberts) Raines in 1893. They had three children Waymon Perry, William McLaurin and Mary Eliza. Sophronia came to this marriage with four children whom she had with John T. Raines.
