She was born March 5, 1911, in Wheeler, Ark., to Samuel and Minnie Morgan Huckaby. She married Charles L. Abbott. She later married Elmer Samson. Both died previously.
She lived in Oakridge and then Cottage Grove for about 40 years. She was well-known for her quilts, having made hundreds. Abbott-Samson was also an avid gardener. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Cottage Grove.
Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Jones of Milwaukie; a stepdaughter, Hope Grazer; three brothers, Howard, Lon and Ronald Huckaby, all of Bakersfield, Calif.; three sisters, Lena Leeper of Mesa, Ariz., Dola Neal of Salem and Sue Lightle of Bakersfield; and eight grandchildren.
