Bertha Martinache passed away on March 9, 1920 after the birth of her sixth child.

The maiden name of Mrs. Martinache was Bertha Sanders. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Sanders and was born in this county [Marion]. Her parents now reside near Percy.
Miss Bertha Sanders was united in marriage with Henry Martinache about 11 years ago. To their union six children were born: [Bertha L., Irene Rosie, Clem Henry, Gerard, Marjorie Pearl, Joseph Earl]. Besides the husband and children, deceased leaves her father, mother, four brothers and five sisters; all of who sincerely mourn her untimely death. She was a good woman in every sense of that expression - a kind and dutiful daughter and loving and considerate wife and mother; the idol of her brothers and sisters and a splendid neighbor and friend.
The funeral services were held at Tipperary, Wednesday, and the body was brought to Knoxville the same afternoon. A second funeral service was held at the Knoxville M. E. Church - a service that was largely attended, especially by the many relatives and friends from Flagler and Percy. Burial in Graceland cemetery.
