Funeral service for Mrs. Martha Sue Abney, 78, of Alexander City, will be Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 11:00 am at the graveside at Hillview Memorial Park. Rev. Lynn Peters will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.

Mrs. Abney passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Russell Medical Center. She was born on April 5, 1934 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to Jackson LaFayette Adamson and Leo Estelle Whitaker Adamson. She was a member of Comer Memorial United Methodist Church where she played the piano. She retired from North Alabama Express. Mrs. Abney enjoyed cooking, going on beach trips to Florida, and taking care of others.

She is survived by her sons, Bobby Joe Abney (Jamie) of Goodwater and Randall Abney of Alexander City; grandchildren, Audra Abney and Stephanie Allen Singleton(Jonathan) both of Alexander City; great-grandchild, Seth McDonald of Alexander City, AL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Ison Abney; her parents; and brothers, Jack Adamson and Charles Adamson.

The family will accept flowers or contributions can be made to Comer Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1497 or 427 East Church Street, Alexander City, Alabama 35010.
